Canada’s oil and gas player Trillion Energy has spudded the sixth well in its 2022 – 2023 drilling campaign on a natural gas field in the Black Sea off Türkiye.
Trillion Energy announced last week that it had started drilling the Alapli-2 well, which is the sixth one in its multi-well drilling programme at the SASB gas field. The drilling operations are being carried out with the Uranus jack-up rig, which was hired in May 2022 for this drilling campaign.
This long-reach directional well is being drilled from the Akkaya tripod and will be a twin of the Alapli-1 exploration well, which was never put into production. However, it was perforated and tested at a combined rate of over 7 MMcf/d, indicating the gas pool is economic.
Arthur Halleran , CEO of Trillion, remarked: “Alapli-2 is a guaranteed success, being a twin of an unproduced exploration well with significant reserves. At completion in about 45 days, we will have 6 gas wells on production at SASB. We are also now getting fantastic flush gas production from Bayhanli-2 our top producer to date.”
Trillion Energy disclosed the flow test results for the Bayhanli-2 well at the SASB natural gas field earlier in June 2022 while the flow test results for the previous four wells – South Akçakoca-2 , Akçakoca-3 , West Akçakoca-1 , and Guluc-2 – were disclosed in early and late November 2022 for the first two wells and in mid and late March for the third and fourth ones.
Furthermore, the Bayhanli-2 gas well which started production on 2 June 2023, has averaged 8 MMcf/d of natural gas production in its first six full days of operation.
Trillion plans to add three sidetrack wells to the development programme for the SASB field , increasing the total number of wells for this Black Sea drilling campaign from 17 to 20.
