Boskalis and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed a contract for the construction of approximately 40 hectares of new land in the northwest corner of the Prinses Alexiahaven on Maasvlakte 2.

In addition to constructing the site, Boskalis will also build two sand dams.

Behind these sand dams, sand that will become available in the coming years during the deepening of port basins can be deposited and reused to create new land in an efficient manner.

Due to the energy transition , industrial sites in the Rotterdam port area are in high demand.

According to Boskalis, the number of available sites in the existing port area is becoming scarcer, which is why the Port of Rotterdam Authority is now starting to build new sites on Maasvlakte 2.
