Baker Hughes’ weekly rig count report indicates that the number of offshore rigs in the United States went down a notch last week compared to the previous two weeks while the total number of rigs operating in the U.S. slid down to 675 from 682 units recorded during the week before.
Following the decrease in the offshore rig activity in June 2023 for units working in the U.S., the total number of offshore rigs held steady at 19 units for two weeks in a row, when it fell to 18 units, according to Baker Hughes. In addition, offshore rigs were up by 4 units on a year-over-year basis.
Furthermore, Baker Hughes’ report points out that the total number of active drilling rigs – including onshore and offshore ones – in the United States decreased by 5 units last week, going down to 675 , which is lower by 81 rigs than last year’s count of 756 with oil rigs slipping down by 62 units, gas rigs going down by 20 units, and miscellaneous rigs rising up by 1 unit.
When compared to the figures from the week before, oil rigs in the U.S. went down by 3 units to 537 last week while gas rigs slipped down by 2 units to 133, and miscellaneous rigs remained unchanged at 5
On the other hand, the total number of active rigs in Canada increased by 12 units, reaching 187 rigs , with oil rigs climbing up by 3 units to 114 while gas rigs rose up by 9 units to 73.
Moreover, the company’s report underlines that the total number of rigs in Canada went down by 4 units from last year’s count of 191 rigs. While oil rigs went down by 11 units last week compared to the year before, gas rigs jumped up by 7 units.
