Offshore drilling contractor Noble Corporation has won a contract extension for one of its jack-up rigs with Harbour Energy for operations in the UK part of the North Sea.
The rig owner’s Noble Intrepid ultra-harsh environment jack-up rig secured a ten-month contract with Harbour Energy in 2Q 2023 for the provision of accommodation services at the Judy field in the UK sector of the North Sea, with a contract value of $28.5 million. The contract contained options to add up to five months of accommodation and well intervention services.
While the Noble Intrepid rig is currently mobilizing for work with Harbour Energy, the company decided to exercise an option to add up to three months of well intervention services to the upcoming contract at the Judy field.
As a result, Noble confirms that the rig is now expected to be under contract with Harbour Energy until the start of December 2024. However, the stay may be extended further, as options to add up to two months of accommodation services remain on the contract. The 2014-built Noble Intrepid rig is a Gusto MSC CJ70 X150 MD jack-up rig, which was constructed at Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore. It can accommodate 150 people. Capable of working in a water depth of 492 ft, the rig’s maximum drilling depth is 40,000 ft.
This extension comes shortly after BP added a one-well option to the work scope of the Noble Innovator ultra-harsh environment jack-up rig with an estimated duration of 90 days, keeping the rig busy in the North Sea into December 2024.
