Saudi Arabia’s onshore and offshore drilling player Arabian Drilling Company (ADC) has provided an update on the upgrades to its new offshore rigs, which have been hired for drilling assignments by the country’s oil and gas giant, Aramco.

Previously, Arabian Drilling reported that three rigs – AD130 , AD140 , and AD150 – were added to its offshore rig fleet. These rigs started their five-year contracts in July 2023 with higher-than-average day rates. The company recently provided a video with more insight into the journey of these three new members of its growing offshore jack-up rig fleet.

Furthermore, Arabian Drilling also revealed that the upgrades of these jack-ups were completed in a record time with zero recordable incidents and focused on improving and developing technical capabilities to support the Saudi Arabian player’s customers.

Commenting on this, Ghassan Mirdad , Arabian Drilling’s CEO, remarked: “This achievement is a testament to our continuous efforts to deliver operations excellence and drive value for our stakeholders. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work, collaboration, and commitment of our team.”

This comes a year after Arabian Drilling wrapped up the upgrades on two offshore rigs working for Saudi Aramco. In August 2023, the company secured contract extensions for four onshore rigs and one offshore rig with a duration of three to ten years.

The Saudi Arabian player will increase its land rig fleet over the coming period, thanks to multiple contracts to deploy ten additional land rigs at Aramco’s unconventional program in the Jafurah field. These will be newbuild rigs with a contract tenure of five years.
