Norway-based marine construction and operations player Ocean Installer has decided to pool resources with ALP Maritime Services, a Dutch provider of ocean towing, offshore positioning and mooring of floating platforms, heavy transport, and salvage operations. This collaboration puts three new vessels at Ocean Installer’s disposal.
According to Ocean Installer, the partnership with ALP brings three new vessels into play, which will be used to support its FPSO towing and hook-up assignments. Kjell Arild Berge , Vice President of Contracts & Procurement at Ocean Installer, sees the collaboration with ALP and the chartering of these three vessels as a way to further strengthen the firm’s position.
“We’re very happy to raise the bar with this brand new collaboration, this year we’re joining forces with the crew from ALP Maritime Services. With different ongoing contracts for FPSO hook-up and installations in the pipeline, this new partnership secures us three of ALP’s cutting-edge vessels to support our FPSO towing and hook-up scopes,” outlined Ocean Installer.
The three vessels, whose names have not been disclosed, will be offered as part of the Norwegian company’s services related to end-to-end towing and hook-up of FPSOs. Currently, ALP has a fleet of eight versatile DP II long-distance towing and anchor-handling vessels.
“By teaming up with ALP and their world-class vessels, we are even better positioned to exceed our clients’ expectations worldwide in the time to come,” added Ocean Installer.
This announcement comes after Ocean Installer, in consortium with Oceaneering, won a deal with TotalEnergies to execute the transportation and installation work of the Girassol Life Extension (GIR FLEX) project.
This is part of the operator’s program to extend to 2031 the life of the FPSO that has been working on Block 17 in Angola since 2001. Block 17 has four FPSOs in operation: Girassol, Dahlia, Pazflor, and CLOV.
Prior to this, the company, together with Petro Services, secured another contract with TotalEnergies for umbilical recovery and reinstallation activities on the FPSO Pazflor.
