U.S. engineering company Chart Industries and Greek provider of LNG shipping services GasLog have teamed up to study the development of a commercial-scale liquid hydrogen (LH2) supply chain.
The collaboration will combine GasLog’s latest developments of a liquid hydrogen vessel and Chart’s experience in cryogenics and large-scale liquefaction solutions for the global distribution of LH2, including hydrogen compression, liquefaction and refrigeration technologies, and cryogenic loading/unloading operations.
Furthermore, the partnership aims to support GasLog’s participation in developing a commercial-scale LH2 supply chain from export markets in the Middle East to European and Asian destinations for onward distribution by liquid transportation and/or gas via pipelines to various end users.
To remind, GasLog and its partners Port of Amsterdam, Zenith Energy Terminals, the Omani government, and Hydrom are studying the establishment of a LH2 supply chain that will deliver Omani green hydrogen to the Amsterdam port and onwards to Europe.
