Singapore-based LNG bunker supplier FueLNG has completed the 150th ship-to-ship (STS) liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering operation in Singapore.

On March 23, FueLNG Bellina bunkered the NYK Line’s pure car truck carrier (PCTC) Freesia Leader in Singapore, marking a milestone in the vessel’s journey towards sustainable energy solutions.

According to FueLNG, LNG is the lowest carbon marine fuel available at scale today and holds a key to achieving the industry’s collective goal of net-zero emissions by 2050, with pathways such as bio-LNG and e-LNG.

“We are not only reducing CO2 emissions today but also paving the way for a more sustainable maritime industry,” the company emphasized in a social media post .

In October last year, the LNG bunker supplier achieved a significant milestone with the 100th STS bunkering operation.

“Reflecting on our progress, it took us about 2.5 years to achieve the first 100 STS LNG bunkering operation. We have now completed another 50 operations in 5 months, underscoring the exponential growth and burgeoning demand for LNG bunkering in Singapore,” FueLNG stated.

FueLNG is a joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine and Shell Eastern Petroleum. The JV owns the 7,500 cbm FueLNG Bellina. Keppel O&M’s Nantong shipyard built the vessel and delivered it in January 2021.

The delivery of FueLNG Bellina made FueLNG the sole provider of ship-to-ship bunkering of LNG in Singapore, which aims to become a leading LNG bunkering hub. The vessel has since been involved in a number of STS bunkering operations including containerships, Aframax tankers as well as LNG-fuelled oil tankers.
