Global Energy Group (GEG) has finished the fabrication process of two towheads, complete with equipment interface support frames and buoyancy tank interface frame from the Port of Nigg, on behalf of Subsea7 for the Aker BP-operated Valhall PWP-Fenris field in the North Sea off Norway.

The 66 ton towheads, each measuring 15 meters in length and 6 meters in width, were produced at the Port of Nigg’s fabrication facility spanning 17,000 square meters. Final painting and coatings were applied before they were transported from the site by road.

“We are happy to have executed this project for our valued client Subsea7. The Towheads and associated subsea assets have been fabricated on time and within budget while maintaining our stringent focus on health & safety,” said Dave MacKay , General Manager of Global Energy Group Fabrication.

“It’s pleasing to see the growing number of fabrication projects being secured and completed by GEG, which are actively supporting the UK’s energy security ambitions. Our renowned fabrication expertise, commitment to safety and quality, as well as our leading facilities are playing a pivotal role in winning this work.”

This development included a new process and wellhead platform (PWP) bridge connected to the Valhall field center and an unmanned wellhead platform on Fenris that produces through a 50-kilometer pipeline to Valhall PWP.

Recently, the GEG secured a contract with Subsea7 to fabricate subsea spools and anode sled structures for one of Aker BP’s North Sea field developments.
