Bermuda-based bulk carrier company Himalaya Shipping has taken delivery of the tenth 210,000 dwt Newcastlemax LNG dual-fuel newbuild from China’s New Times Shipyard (NTS).
Himalaya Shipping announced the delivery of the vessel named Mount Denali on April 22. The remaining two vessels are scheduled to be delivered in June 2024.
As disclosed, the vessel has been handed to a ‘major commodity trading company’ for an initial charter term until December 31, 2026, with an evergreen structure thereafter.
The time charter also includes a profit sharing of any economic benefit derived from operating the vessel’s scrubber or running on LNG, as well as certain rights to convert the time charter to a fixed rate based on the prevailing forward freight agreement (FFA) curve from time to time.
“We are proud of the rapid evolvement of the Company. By the end of June we will have a sailing fleet of twelve state of the art vessels representing the youngest and most fuel efficient dry bulk fleet on the water today,” said Herman Billung , contracted CEO of Himalaya Shipping.
Himalaya Shipping has a total of twelve LNG dual-fuel 210,000 dwt Newcastlemax ships on order at Chinese NTS. The first two vessels, Mount Norefjell and Mount Ita , were delivered in March 2023.
Mount Etna, Mount Blanc , Mount Matterhor , and Mount Neblina also joined Himalaya’s fleet in 2023.
