Shizen International, a subsidiary of the Shizen Energy Group, has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Majuperak Holdings Berhad (MHB), a state government-linked company (GLC) to evaluate bodies of water suitable for floating solar projects in Perak, Malaysia.
Signed on April 25, 2024, in Fukuoka City, Japan, this MoU also encompasses two companies developing ground-mounted solar power projects together in Perak, as well as conducting feasibility studies on floating solar projects, and considerations for co-funding the projects.
“This collaboration will benefit both parties and boost the state’s local socio-economic development while supporting its 2030 target and low-carbon energy initiatives. We are committed to leveraging Fukuoka and Ipoh’s longstanding friendship and hope for both cities’ better, sustainable future,” said Rei Ushikubo , CEO of Shizen International.

The MoU was officially signed by Syed Agil Syed Hashim, the Chief Executive Officer of MHB, and Rei Ushikubo, the Chief Executive Officer of Shizen International.

Shizen Energy, headquartered in Fukuoka City, shares a sister city relationship with Ipoh, Perak. Shintaro Nakamura, Director of the International Cooperation Section of Fukuoka City, also attended the event to mark this ongoing collaboration.
In March 2023, Shizen International signed an MoU with Sena Solar Energy to develop renewable energy in Thailand and to create new floating solar plants.
