Norway’s AGR, a subsidiary of Oslo-listed global energy, marine, and engineering consultancy ABL Group, has finalized the acquisition of Ross Offshore, a Norwegian-based energy consultancy. This enabled it to expand its team with more than 220 additional employees.
The merger of Ross Offshore with AGR, which was announced a month ago , is expected to reinforce ABL Group’s area of expertise in wells, reservoirs, and marine and survey management.
“Joining forces with Ross Offshore allows us to expand our technical offering in drilling project management, well engineering, and subsurface and asset evaluations, as well as to further enhance our capacity to support marine operations & rig management worldwide,” said AGR CEO, Svein Sollund .
This range of services could bring added value to the Oslo-listed player and strengthen its position in the oil and gas markets, which is particularly relevant as DNV’s recent survey found that confidence in the oil and gas sector has grown from 58% in 2022 to 68% in 2024.
Additionally, ABL Group is expected to benefit from Ross Offshore’s marine mobilization services, health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) consulting, as well as contracts and logistics support. The group believes this will help drive sustainability in energy and marine operations.
ABL Group CEO, Reuben Sega l, remarked: “As a result of becoming one team with AGR, the Ross Offshore and AGR united team has more than 500 knowledge heavy professionals working on behalf of the client base. Ross Offshore also brings new locations to our Group presence in Norway – Bergen and Sandefjord in addition to our offices in Stavanger, Oslo, and Tromsø.”
The Norwegian firm recently lent a hand to India’s Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in moving 45 rigs in preparation for the monsoon season , breaking the Indian firm’s previous record of 37 rig moves.
ABL was also picked by China Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) to provide marine warranty survey (MWS) services for jacket installations on a project at the Safaniya oil field in the Arabian Gulf. The field is described as the world’s biggest conventional offshore oil field by recoverable reserves and production capacity.
