Short-sea operator Unifeeder, a part of DP World’s Marine Services Division, has named two energy-efficient containerships at a ceremony held at Changhong shipyard in Zhoushan, China.
As informed, the vessels, which were named Navios Utmost and Navios Unite, will join the Unifeeder fleet as part of a fleet renewal plan to deploy more efficient vessels as the company continues to test alternative fuels and monitor the availability of fuel supplies.
The Sapphire 5300 compact gearless container vessels are said to represent a “significant advancement” in maritime technology, prioritizing efficiency and sustainability. With advanced hull designs and energy-saving technologies, these ships enhance cargo handling while significantly reducing operational costs, DP World noted.
The Navios Utmost, for example, is expected to save around 1,700 metric tonnes of bunker fuel each year, resulting in a 15% to 20% decrease in carbon emissions on its intended routes. This commitment to sustainability sets a new standard in the industry, according to DP World.
The boxship will be integrated into Unifeeder’s Far East Madras Express Service (FME), while the Navios Unite will join the Asian Gulf India Service (AGI), to enhance regional shipping capabilities. These vessels are set to make a significant impact by merging high performance with eco-friendly practices.

He explained that by integrating advanced technologies, the company is working to reduce its environmental impact.
He also noted that these vessels mark a significant advancement in the efforts to reshape the future of global trade, ensuring it remains both resilient and sustainable.
