Dutch company Royal Vopak has launched marked consultations for the storage of ammonia at its Vopak Energy Park Antwerp site in Belgium.
Through market consultations, Vopak aims to gauge market interest and gain detailed insight into customer demand. The consultations opened on October 24 and will run for one month, concluding on November 29, 2024.
To remind, Vopak acquired a former refinery site in May 2023 , gaining access to a strategic concession in the northern Antwerp port area and entering discussions on the development of a new green energy hub with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges.
The site spans approximately 105 hectares and has deep-sea, river, road, and rail access, as well as pipeline connections to Northwest Europe for propylene, ethylene, CO2, and hydrogen transport.
Vopak Energy Park Antwerp plans to finish the currently ongoing pre-front end engineering design (FEED) study by the end of 2024.
Subject to market interest and a positive final investment decision (FID) the start of operations is currently foreseen in 2029.
