PSV undergoing upgrades completes its first geotechnical project

Ross Offshore, part of ABL Group’s AGR, has performed the first geotechnical project with Ross Eagle, following the completion of the first phase of upgrades on the vessel that was built as a platform supply vessel (PSV).

Owned by Eagle Offshore Bømlo, the 2003-built Ross Eagle was constructed at Brattvaag Shipyard as a PSV. The scarcity of special-purpose ships prompted upgrades on the vessel, as announced in September .

The vessel has been equipped with a 100-ton A-frame over the moonpool and active heave-compensated winches, after which it completed its first geotechnical project, which included the delivery of geotechnical coring specifically for a wind farm under development, providing critical data on seabed conditions to support the project’s concept and design phase.

According to Ross Offshore, the next step in the upgrades includes the deployment of a work-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV).

“The advancements we highlighted focus on expanding Ross Eagle’s capabilities in inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR), plug and abandonment (P&A), geotechnical coring, and seabed mapping,” Ross Offshore told Offshore Energy.

“The updates on Ross Eagle reflect our commitment to broadening our technical expertise in geotechnical services, enabling us to support a variety of offshore and subsea projects with high-quality engineering and data.”
