Norwegian vessel operator Sea1 Offshore, formerly known as Siem Offshore, has secured further work for one of its offshore subsea construction vessels (OSCV), thanks to a contract extension from PXGeo, a marine geophysical service provider.
According to the vessel owner, PXGeo has decided to prolong the OSCV Sea1 Spearfish ’s assignment by exercising its option to extend the contract for one more year. As a result, the ship will continue to be engaged within the marine geophysical segment and support the charterer’s operations worldwide until Q1 2026.
The 2014-built Siem Spearfish is of STX OSCV 03 design and is capable of undertaking subsea operations such as construction and installation work, inspection, and maintenance. With a length of 120.80 meters, the vessel can accommodate 110 people.
In July, Sea1 Offshore also got a contract extension for its diesel-electric-driven multipurpose support vessel (MPSV) Siem Dorado with PXGeo for two years and a four-month firm period.
Recently, the Norwegian operator ordered two next-generation offshore energy support vessels (OESVs) from a Chinese shipyard. These OESVs are expected to be methanol-ready.
The new vessel orders came after ConocoPhillips booked AHTS ships from Sea1 Offshore for the Otway project.
