Latest addition completes GOGL’s 85,000 dwt eco-friendly Kamsarmax fleet

Norwegian dry bulk shipping company Golden Ocean Group (GOGL) has taken delivery of the final environmentally-friendly 85,000 dwt Kamsarmax bulk carrier from CSSC Tianjin Shipyard, a subsidiary of China’s Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC).

The newest addition to GOGL’s fleet was named Golden Faith and delivered on November 20, 2024, and set sail on its maiden voyage.

According to the shipowner, the Golden Faith is the final unit in a series of ten Kamsarmax newbuildings designed with the latest regulatory requirements and various pollutant gas emission standards in mind.

With a length of 227.2 meters and a breadth of 36 meters, the bulker features a Tier III MAN 6S60ME-C10.5 engine equipped with advanced NOx reduction technology.

Furthermore, the vessel is said to achieve approximately 10% greater fuel efficiency compared to its predecessors, underlining GOGL’s commitment to environmentally responsible maritime operations.

To remind, GOGL ordered the series of ten 85,000 dwt ECO-type dual-fuel vessels from the Chinese shipyard back in 2022.

The first two bulkers, Golden Star and Golden Lion , were delivered in May 2023. The eight and ninth unit, Golden Wave and Golden Tide, joined the company’s fleet in summer of 2024.

Meanwhile, GOGL revealed a 13.3% reduction in the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) across all segments of its fleet in 2023 compared to a 2019 baseline.

More precisely, renewal efforts for the Kamsarmax and Panamax fleets resulted in CII reductions of 9.9% and 8.2%, respectively, According to the company’s 2023 ESG Report.
