Subsea7 has secured a contract with Norway’s state-owned energy company Equinor to deliver a study that will finalize the technical definition of the proposed subsea development at a field off Norway before the final investment decision (FID) is reached.
Subsea 7 has been appointed to deliver a front-end engineering and design (FEED) study with an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) option for the Fram Sør development project.
If the EPCI option is exercised, any resulting subsea structures, umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) installation scope would be a direct award to Subsea7, described as substantial, meaning it would be worth between $150 million and $300 million.
Work will begin immediately in the company’s offices in Norway and the UK, while offshore installation activities associated with the contract will be scheduled for 2026, 2027, and 2028.

The Fram Sør area is located 10-30 kilometers north of the Equinor-operated Troll C platform, approximately 70 kilometers northwest of Bergen. The development will be connected to the existing Fram and Troll C infrastructure.
It was announced in June 2024 that SLB is set to deliver the FEED of a 12-well, all-electric subsea production systems (SPS) project in the field, with future EPC to be directly awarded to SLB OneSubsea, a joint venture backed by SLB, Aker Solutions, and Subsea7, conditional on the FID.
