Dutch shipping company Pot Scheepvaart has ordered another 6,340 dwt multipurpose ship at compatriot shipyard Royal Bodewes.
As informed, construction on the Ice Class 1A ship will start in 2026, with delivery expected in the second quarter of 2027.
“The specifications will be the same as our 757 which is already under construction and will be launched next month,” Pot Scheepvaart said.
In 2024, the shipping company ordered the first general cargo vessel designed to carry general cargoes, timber, paper, wood pulp, and bulk cargoes. In collaboration with class society RINA and Bodewes, Pot Scheepvaart recently increased the ship’s deadweight to 6,340 tons from the original 6,000.
“An increase of more than 5% from the original planned 6.000 tons deadweight will result in an even more efficient design,” the Delfzijl-based shipping company explained.
Royal Bodewes revealed that the first unit, which is currently being built at the yard in the Northern Netherlands, is scheduled to be launched next month. According to the image shared by the shipbuilder, the newbuild will be named Delfzijl (IMO number: 1024643 or the hull 757).
The vessels will feature a length of 107.23 meters, a width of 15.2 meters and a draught of 5.9 meters. They will be able to reach a speed of 11.8 knots.
According to its website, the Dutch company has a total of 13 vessels with a deadweight ranging from 4,500-12,000 tons.
In related news, Royal Bodewes recently handed over Marie Lehmann , a 5,800 dwt Ecotrader cargo vessel, to Germany’s Unternehmnensgruppe Lehmann. The newbuild has identical length and width as the two new ships ordered by the aforementioned Dutch company.
