Denmark’s fund management company focused on maritime investments European Maritime Finance (EMF), together with South Korean shipbuilding company Daehan Shipbuilding and Greek shipping company Atlas Maritime, has celebrated the name-giving of its latest eco LR2 115,000 DWT tankers.
The ceremony, attended by the company’s partners, investors, bankers and associates, was held at the Daehan Shipbuilding Yard in Korea.
The names of the vessels are Stavanger Star, Oslo Star, Copenhagen Star and Athenian Star, with hull numbers 5090, 5091, 5092 and 5093, EMF revealed, adding that all tankers will be IMO A-rated, Eco-class.

In other news, in August 2024, EMF, in collaboration with Atlas Maritime, confirmed the order of three 88,000 cbm LPG/ammonia carriers at the South Korean shipyard HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI). As disclosed, the vessels will be named EMF Viking I, II and III, and are scheduled for delivery by the end of December 2027.
HD HHI’s parent company HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) first revealed the order valued at KRW 489.6 billion ($372 million) in March 2024 without disclosing the shipowner’s name.
Earlier in 2024, EMF and Atlas Maritime placed an order for the construction of the seventh and eighth scrubber-fitted dual-fuel Suezmax tankers with Daehan Shipbuilding. According to EMF and Atlas, these vessels will boast sustainability features such as dual-fuel capability, LNG-readiness and Eco-class designation.
