China’s Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding has selected Norwegian company Breeze Ship Design to design a 150-ton bollard pull anchor handling tug offshore support (AHTS) vessel for an undisclosed owner.

The 78-meter DP2 vessel, based on Breeze Ship Design’s Z 4650 blueprint, is said to be designed for demanding offshore anchor handling operations.

Breeze Ship Design noted that the vessel features medium-speed diesel engines, a reduction gearbox with power take-off and take-in (PTO/PTI) functionality, and controllable pitch propellers, ensuring seamless transitions between operational modes.

“We are excited to have been entrusted with the design of this AHTS. Our team has a proven track record in developing high-performing AHTS designs, and this project reaffirms our position as a trusted partner in the global offshore industry,” said Tommy Hivand , CCO of Breeze Ship Design.

According to the company, the forward and aft side thrusters enhance the vessel’s capabilities, enabling efficient performance across various offshore tasks.

With a deadweight capacity of 3,000 deadweight tonnage (dwt), a 500-square-meter work deck, and accommodations for 18 crew members and 32 non-crew personnel, the design is said to prioritize versatility and operational efficiency.

In December 2024, Breeze Ship Design was selected to provide a design of two new hybrid multipurpose offshore supply vessels (MPSVs) ordered by the U.S. shipowner SEACOR Marine.
