UK’s Forum Energy Technologies (FET) has introduced its ultra-heavy-duty work-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV) designed to enhance subsea operations with increased payload capacity and advanced control capabilities.

According to FET, the XLX EVO III ROV features larger thrusters for improved through-water performance, an updated buoyancy package enabling a 500-kilogram payload, and a CNC-machined frame for enhanced maintenance access and tooling capability.

The through-frame lift capacity has increased by over 30% from the previous EVO II model , reaching 4000 kilograms.

The XLX EVO III is said to be equipped with FET’s ICE Unity control software, which supports remote operations, and updated pilot chairs or consoles. As development continues,FET said that additional enhancements are expected.

Manufactured at FET’s UK facility in Kirkbymoorside, Yorkshire, and supported by the company’s global network, the ROV is now available for order, the company said.

“For over 50 years, our ROVs have been the standard bearer for heavy duty subsea operations – and we’re thrilled to now bring to market the next generation,” said Kevin Taylor , FET’s Vice President Operations – Subsea.

“As FET’s Work Class ROVs are renowned for, the XLX EVO III is rugged and reliable, but is also equipped with cutting edge technology that enables operators to fly with poise, precision and confidence. We are excited to see the results that our latest ROV, designed for an optimised performance, will generate for customers now and in the years to come.”

In January, FET secured a contract to supply a work-class ROV system and a Dynacon launch and recovery system (LARS) to the Spanish maritime survey and ROV services operator ACSM.
