Recently converted seismic source vessel begins sea trials (Video)

A 2010-built seismic source vessel owned by Norway’s Sanco Shipping, recently converted from a seismic research vessel, is performing its sea trials ahead of delivery.

Sanco Shipping purchased Sanco Sailor in July 2025, at the time named PGS Apollo, after which the 106.6-meter-long vessel set sail directly to Vard Langsten.

Since arriving at Vard Langsten in August, the vessel underwent a conversion from a seismic research vessel into a modern seismic source vessel, including major structural modifications, upgrades to the existing seismic equipment, and the installation of a DP2 system to enhance operational capability.

VARD reported on February 3 that Sanco Sailor was carrying out sea trials before delivery.
