North Sea wells originally used for oil production are currently being prepared for CO2 storage as part of the Greensand Future project in Denmark, which will store carbon dioxide in the Nini West field located approximately 240 kilometers northwest of Esbjerg.
To remind, in December 2022, Project Greensand was granted an exploration permit for the injection and storage of up to 15,000 tons of CO2 in Nini West over a four-month period. This was followed by a world first on March 8, 2023, with the first-ever injection of CO2 in the North Sea .
