Teekay, a marine energy transportation, storage and production company, has informed that the FPSO Pioneiro de Libra arrived in Brazilian territorial waters on May 17.
The FPSO, owned by the 50/50 joint venture between Odebrecht Oil and Gas (OOG) and Teekay Offshore Partners, set sail to Brazil on March 28 from the Jurong shipyard in Singapore, where the conversion work had been carried out.
The unit is chartered by the consortium between Petrobras, Total, Shell, CNPC, and CNOOC for a period of 12 years
Since the christening of the FPSO, held in December of last year , the vessel has undergone commissioning and sea tests. Teekay said in Thursday that, during the trip to Brazil, more tests were carried out and, upon arrival, the vessel will undergo approval processes by inspection bodies and Libra field operator Petrobras.
After approval and anchoring, the risers will be connected to the FPSO. Teekay added that first oil is scheduled for July this year, which is a minor delay compared to prior plan to start production by the end of the first half of 2017.
The Pioneiro de Libra will be the first to produce oil in the giant Libra Block which covers more than 1,500 square kilometers in the Santos Basin and has estimated reserves of 8-12 billion barrels of recoverable oil.
The FPSO can operate at water depths of up to 2,400 meters, with a production capacity of 50,000 barrels of oil per day and daily compression capacity of four million cubic meters of gas.
