Golar: Cameroon FLNG September start-up not impossible

Golar LNG, a company supplying an FLNG unit to be used for the development of Cameroon’s Kribi offshore fields, has said that September schedule for the start-up is tight but possible.

The company will supply the FLNG Hilli Episeyo project, currently being converted in Keppel’s Singapore shipyard.

According to Golar, conversion is nearing completion, all equipment has been installed and testing and pre-commissioning work is underway and will continue in Singapore until departure from the yard, which is expected to be in around 6 weeks.

Seawater trials, storing-up and potentially LNG bunkering in Singapore will follow redelivery from the yard. A naming ceremony has been scheduled for July 2, Golar said on Wednesday.

“The mooring has now been completed and is en-route to Cameroon in advance of hook-up and initiation of commissioning and production at the end of September. Perenco are on track with their scope of works,” Golar said.

“Provided that remaining works progress according to current plans and no unforeseen issues arise, the schedule to meet the end-September start in Cameroon is tight but achievable. The FLNG Hilli Episeyo conversion remains within budget,” Golar added.

The project is based on the allocation of 500 BCF of natural gas reserves to be supplied by Perenco and Cameroon’s SNH from the Sanaga Sud and Ebome fields.

Once in production, gas will be converted to LNG through Golar’s FLNG unit, and will then be sold to Russia’s Gazprom .
