Norway’s FPE Sontum has reportedly scored a contract worth 100 million Norwegian Crowns with Statoil.

According to Petro.no, a Norwegian language oil and gas news website, FPE Sontum will provide its fire extinguishing systems for the Johan Castberg FPSO.

The contract includes project management, design, procurement, assembly and testing for the Johan Castberg FPSO, to be deployed in the Barents Sea.

The work will take place at FPE Sontum AS offices and workshop at Forus near Stavanger and will last for about a year and a half, Petro.no informed.

The Johan Castberg field, operated by Statoil, is located approximately 240 kilometers north-west of Hammerfest, and 150 kilometers from Goliat field. While Statoil has yet to submit a development plan to the Norwegian authorities, the field is expected to be developed using a floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit.

A final investment decision for the Johan Castberg is to be made towards the end of 2017.
