Bluewater-owned FPSO Aoka Mizu, which will operate on Hurricane Energy’s Lancaster field off the UK, has arrived at a shipyard in Dubai for upgrade work.
The UK-based oil and gas company informed on Monday that the FPSO unit Aoka Mizu had arrived at Drydocks World Dubai shipyard on Saturday, September 30, 2017.
Drydocks World is also undertaking the fabrication of the buoy, where first steel has already been cut at its Dubai facility, the oil company said.
Hurricane made the Final Investment Decision (FID) on the development of the Lancaster Early Production System (EPS) in mid-September. Production from the field is expected to start in the first half of 2019.
In late September, the company received development and production consent for the Lancaster field development plan for the EPS phase. Subsea installation activities at Lancaster are scheduled for summer 2018, in advance of the planned arrival of the FPSO unit.
TechnipFMC, which was awarded an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation contract for the Lancaster EPS, has already started procurement and fabrication of the main subsea components of the development including subsea umbilical, risers and flowlines “SURF” and subsea production system “SPS”.
The Lancaster license, located West of Shetland in about 150 meters of water, has combined 2P Reserves and 2C Resources of 523 million barrels.
