Energy services company Wood has been awarded a new contract with Bluewater to provide industrial services to the Haewene Brim floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel in the UK North Sea.
Effective immediately, the contract is for two years with three one-year extension options, and includes the provision of rigging and scaffolding services on the FPSO vessel, currently operating in the Pierce field, Wood informed on Thursday.

The Haewene Brim was built in 1996 at Samsung shipyard, Korea, as a so-called Multi-purpose Shuttle Tanker (MST), meaning it could be employed in various modes as a Dynamically Positioned (DP) shuttle tanker and adapted to be converted to an FPSO or a deep-water drilling vessel.
After delivery of the vessel in early 1997, the vessel was employed as a trading (shuttle) tanker and as a floating storage and offloading vessel during extended well-testing operations at the Connemara field offshore Ireland for Statoil.
The Haewene Brim was converted to an FPSO at Aker McNulty yard in Newcastle by previous owners in late 1997-1998 and started operating at the Pierce field. The FPSO has been operational at the Pierce field in the UK sector of the North Sea since 1999 for Shell UK Exploration & Production. Bluewater bought the Haewene Brim in 2001.
