Greek oil and gas company Energean has completed keel laying for the hull of the Energean Power FPSO in a Chinese shipyard.
Energean said on Thursday via social media that the hull keel laying was held on April 13 at the COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard in China.
The company also posted a time-lapse video showing gate preparation and the first erection block shifting during the keel laying. You can check out the video below:
The first steel for the FPSO was cut at the COSCO yard in Zhoushan on November 26, 2018.
Hull completion is expected to take 12 months after which it will travel to the Sembcorp Admiralty Yard in Singapore for installation of the Siemens-built topsides. Energean expects the FPSO to sail away from Singapore in late 2020 ahead of first gas in 2021.
The Energean Power FPSO will be part of the Karish North development offshore Israel and will be located 5.4km from the Karish North well. To remind, the Stena DrillMAX drillship hit gas in the well earlier this month .
The FPSO is being built with total processing and export capacity of 8 bcm per year or 775 mmcf per day, which will enable both Karish North and future discoveries to be monetized.
