ENGIE picks XPO as LNG distribution partner

French Eenergy major ENGIE, through its unit GNVERT, has selected XPO Logistics as its LNG distribution partner.

Under the agreement, ENGIE and XPO will work on expanding the availability of LNG in France. It will transport natural gas from the LNG terminal in the port of Fos-sur-Mer, near Marseille, to all ENGIE Solutions fuelling stations in the Great Southeast region of France.

XPO invested in cryogenic tanks capable of maintaining a temperature of minus 161 degrees Celsius and a dedicated fleet of LNG trucks to carry LNG. The first LNG deliveries are expected in October.

“For the past decade, XPO and GNVERT have been working together to deploy alternative fuels infrastructure throughout the territory. Through this new partnership, we intend to accelerate the accessibility of LNG, a strategic lever for the energy transition,” said Jean-Baptiste Furia , managing director of GNVERT.

GNVERT is the leading distributor of alternative fuels in France, including LNG, compressed natural gas (CNG), decarbonated CNG (BioCNG) and hydrogen.
