U.S. LNG export project developer Venture Global LNG has partnered up with construction firm Zachry Group in the development of the Plaquemines LNG export project in Louisiana.
This comes after Venture Global LNG selected KBR for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract as lead contractor for Phase 1 of the Plaquemines LNG export facility.
KBR and Zachry Group will form a new joint venture KZJV to work together to execute the development, engineering, procurement and construction under the EPC contract for Phase 1 of Plaquemines LNG.
KZJV will integrate equipment for the ten million tonnes per annum (MTPA) facility, identical to the systems used at Venture Global LNG’s Calcasieu Pass project.
CEO Mike Sabel said: “Combining the world-class experience of KBR in engineering, program management and integration with Zachry Group’s proven track record in project delivery and direct hire construction will enable Venture Global LNG to build on the historic success of Calcasieu Pass and continue our commitment to safe, on-time and on-budget execution.”
In February , Venture Global LNG has secured a $500 million loan for the project.
The Plaquemines LNG project, with the facility located south of New Orleans on the Mississippi River, contracted 3.5 MTPA of the its 10 MTPA first phase under binding 20-year offtake agreements and received both DOE export authorization and final FERC approval.
