Ertuğrul Gazi FSRU undergoing final regasification trials

The ABS-classed Ertuğrul Gazi, the first Turkish-flagged FSRU, is currently undergoing final regasification trials on site before commencing operations.

The ABS-classed floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) has been delivered from South Korea for Turkish oil and gas pipeline operator BOTAŞ.

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) classifies and certifies LNG vessels and systems globally.

The 295-meter-long Ertuğrul Gazi FSRU is built by Hyundai Heavy Industries in accordance with the ABS guide for building and classing LNG regasification vessels.

Its daily regasification capacity is 28 million cubic meters (990 million standard cubic feet) per day, ranking it among the vessels with the highest send-out capacity in the world according to ABS.

The vessel will will operate in the İskenderun Bay, Hatay Dörtyol, in the southeast of Turkey, and will be connected to the LNG terminal at Hatay, Turkey.

The FRSU is the third present in Turkey, joining the one in Hatay, and the other, privately-owned, in İzmir.
