CCCC wins major contractor gig for Kamchatka LNG

Russian federal seaports agency Rosmorport has awarded China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) a contract to build Novatek’s Kamchatka LNG terminal in Bechevinskaya Bay.

The Moscow branch of the Chinese marine and waterway contractor CCCC will be constructing the Kamchatka LNG terminal, according to local news outlets.

Therefore, it is going to build floating gas storage facilities, as well as additional infrastructure.

The amount of the contract reportedly exceeds 19.5 billion rubles ($263.5 million).

Novatek and the government of the Kamchatka Territory signed an agreement to develop this LNG complex back in 2018.

The facility was proposed as the base for transshipment of volumes produced at Novatek’s Arctic LNG facilities. Further, the ice-class carriers will transport the volumes to ordinary LNG carriers for further delivery to Asia-Pacific consumers.

The complex will include two floating LNG units on the whole. It will handle around 21.7 million tonnes of LNG per year.

The construction will end by the end of October 2022.
