DSME orders GTT tank design for new LNG carrier

South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has ordered tank design from French LNG containment specialist GTT for a new LNG carrier.

DSME is building this new LNG carrier on behalf of an Asian ship-owner. The vessel will offer a capacity of 174,000 cubic metres.

Therefore, GTT will provide the vessel’s tank design and associated engineering services. The tanks will specifically feature the GTT NO96 GW membrane containment system, a technology developed by GTT.

Samsung Heavy orders GTT tank design for 4 new LNGCs Infrastructure Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering will deliver the vessel in the second half of 2024.

Earlier this year, the shipbuilder said it has surpassed its annual order target. This is the first time that the shipbuilder exceeded its order target since 2014.
