Offshore vessel provider Harvey Gulf International Marine has inked a deal with a maritime cleantech company, SailPlan, to optimise its fleet with the latter’s namesake emission optimisation platform – SailPlan – in a bid to monitor and reduce its emissions along with fuel consumption as part of its net-zero strategy.
SailPlan announced on Monday that it had entered into a commercial agreement with Harvey Gulf to add its platform, SailPlan , to the offshore vessel provider’s fleet.

As an emissions monitoring and optimization platform, SailPlan combines the real-time engine, fuel, and navigational data from vessels with the weather, mapping, infrastructure, and traffic data to benchmark, optimize, and report fleet emissions. In addition, its unique approach establishes provable emissions metrics, enabling reliable real-time, real-world measurements of vessel emissions helping vessel operators achieve provable net-zero, according to SailPlan’s statement.

Meanwhile, SailPlan says that Harvey Gulf has already seen quantifiable emissions reductions beginning with the Harvey Power , a 310-foot platform supply vessel (PSV), which benefitted from the addition of SailPlan, making this vessel the first PSV in North America to be equipped with a real-time emissions optimization capability.
Furthermore, the PSV Harvey Power is designed to run on liquified natural gas (LNG), electric battery power, and ultra-low sulfur diesel and SailPlan will help the vessel to benchmark its emissions in all three operating modes using real-world data while optimizing engine load to reduce fuel consumption and reduce emissions. The company will start the program by modernizing its LNG fleet with SailPlan with operations in the U.S. and Mexico.
In an attempt to reduce emissions, Harvey Gulf intensified its decarbonisation efforts and unveiled new ESG and emissions reduction targets in December 2021.
This includes the work undertaken to deliver a fleet of vessels, which will operate in a net carbon neutral capacity to reduce the carbon footprint from operations.
