Jera completes pipeline for Futtsu LNG import terminal

Japanese energy giant Jera and partners have marked completion of the Nanohana Pipeline connecting the Futtsu LNG import terminal and the Anegasaki thermal power station in Chiba.

The partners include Jera, Keiyo Gas, Otaki Gas, TEPCO Energy Partner, and Nanohana Pipeline. On 20 May, they held a ceremony to mark the completion of the Nanohana Pipeline (NP) for transporting natural gas.

Keiyo Gas and Otaki Gas are behind the Nanohana Pipeline. The company started with the pipeline high-pressure trunk line construction back in 2018.

The pipeline runs approximately 31 kilometres from Jera’s Futtsu LNG terminal to the Anegasaki thermal power station in Chiba Prefecture.

It will begin operating in June this year, according to Jera.

Jera will assume operation of the NP from Nanohana Pipeline after launch and integrate its operations with those of its own power generation pipelines.

Nanohana Pipeline will remain the owner of the NP. Keiyo Gas, Otaki Gas, and TEPCO EP will use this pipeline to promote the expanded use of LNG.

With the completion of the NP, the five companies say they will contribute to the stable supply of natural gas while living up to the expectations of customers.
