Japan’s Anegasaki thermal power station new unit 1, which energy company JERA Co. has been replacing through its subsidiary JERA Power Anegasaki G.K., has begun commercial operation.
Thermal power station new unit 1 is an LNG-fired power station that uses a gas turbine combined-cycle power generation system (GTCC).
It has a generating capacity of approximately 650 MW and is located at Anegasaki Kaigan, Ichihara-shi, Chiba.
Besides the new unit 1, the station includes new units 2 and 3, as well as units 5 and 6. New units 2 and 3 have generating capacity of 650 MW and use GTCC, while units 5 and 6 have a capacity of 600 MW and use Steam. All are LNG-fired.
JERA said it will continue to move steadily forward in replacing ageing equipment with state-of-the-art power stations as it works to contribute to a stable electricity supply and reduce CO2 emissions.
In 2022, Jera and partners have marked the completion of the Nanohana Pipeline connecting the Futtsu LNG import terminal and the Anegasaki station.
