Norway sees lower oil and higher gas output in January

Norway’s oil & gas output in January 2023 is lower than in December 2022, but the gas production is still higher than last year and NPD’s predictions.

Even though Norway recorded an increase in gas production in January 2023 compared to the figures from the same period in 2022 and the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate’s predictions, this figure is still below the one recorded in December 2022. In addition, the oil output is slightly lower than the NPD’s forecast and the figure from the month before.

According to the NPD’s recent report, preliminary production figures for January 2023 show an average daily production of 1 979 000 barrels of oil, NGL and condensate.

Total gas sales were 11.1 billion Sm3 (GSm3), which is 0.1 (GSm3) less than the previous month .

Average daily liquids production in January was: 1 754 000 barrels of oil, 200 000 barrels of NGL and 25 000 barrels of condensate.

Oil production in January is 3.0 per cent lower than the NPD’s forecast.

Production figures January 2023

The total petroleum production in January 2023 is about 20,8 million Sm3 oil equivalents (MSm3 o.e.), broken down as follows: about 8.6 MSm3 o.e. of oil, about 1.1 MSm3 o.e. of NGL and condensate and about 11.1 MSm3 o.e. of gas for sale. The total volume is 0.5 MSm3 o.e. higher than in January 2022.
