Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has signed a contract with an industry consortium for the development of hydro-floating solar hybrid project at Ubol Ratana Dam in Thailand.

EGAT signed a deal with MPD Consortium , consisting of Mitr Phol Energy Services , PEA ENCOM International , and Dongfang Electric International Corporation for the delivery of the project in Thailand’s Khon Kaen Province.

Boonyanit Wongrukmit , EGAT’s governor, said that the project at Ubol Ratana Dam is a part of EGAT’s clean energy development strategy, as the company plans to develop an additional 15 hydro-floating solar hybrid projects nationwide to support renewable energy demands sustainably according to the national policy.

The 24MW project at Ubol Ratana Dam will generate clean electricity by using a hybrid system that combines solar power and hydropower along with a battery energy storage system (BESS) to help stabilize electricity generation from renewable energy.

Payomsarit Sripattananon , acting executive vice president of PEA ENCOM, said that the project at Ubol Ratana Dam will help raise the standard of Thailand’s clean energy stability and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and is in line with the company’s objective and business plan.
