FueLNG performs 200th ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation

Singapore-based LNG bunker supplier FueLNG has completed its 200th ship-to-ship (STS) liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering operation.

On June 29, FueLNG Venosa delivered 9,000 cubic metres (cbm) of LNG fuel to CMA CGM Bahia at the Raffles Reserve Anchorage in Singapore. This vessel is part of a new generation of six CMA CGM containerships featuring “biomethane and e-methane ready” engines and an enhanced aerodynamic design.

Saunak Rai, FueLNG’s General Manager, commented: “We are immensely proud to celebrate our 200th STS LNG bunkering operation. This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our stakeholders – Seatrium, Shell, our esteemed customer CMA CGM, and the authorities at the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Their collaboration and commitment have been instrumental in helping us reach this significant milestone.”

Farid Trad, Vice President of Bunkering & Energy Transition at CMA CGM, said that CMA is looking forward to many more collaborations in the future, and Hwee-Lan Khoo, Chairman of FueLNG and Strategic Account Manager at Shell Marine, said that the bunkering milestone is also a proud moment for Singapore, adding that further growth in this location is anticipated.

Aziz Merchant, Executive Vice President of Engineering and Technology at Seatrium and Board Director of FueLNG, congratulated FueLNG and revealed that the vessel design for FueLNG-owned LNG bunker vessel was provided by Seatrium Marine and Deepwater Technology (SMDTech), which focuses in specialized ships, semi-submersibles and floating structures.

FueLNG completed its 150th STS LNG bunkering operation in March 2024. At the time, FueLNG Bellina bunkered the NYK Line’s pure car truck carrier (PCTC) Freesia Leader in Singapore.

To note, FueLNG is a joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine and Shell Eastern Petroleum. The company claims it is committed to advancing LNG as a sustainable marine fuel and looks forward to further milestones.
