Marine fuels supplier Minerva Bunkering has taken delivery of a new LNG dual-fuel bunker tanker that will support the company’s operations in the port of Singapore.
The 8,000 dwt vessel named Amalthea was built by Jinagmen Hangtong Shipyard in China and officially delivered to Minerva Bunkering at a ceremony held on October 8, 2024, at the Singapore port.
Classed by Bureau Veritas (BV), the tanker is powered by twin Yanmar LNG dual-fuel engines and equipped with a Type-C LNG fuel tank capacity of 100 cubic meters.
“Amalthea will service a wide range of vessels across the shipping industry, including container ships, bulk carriers, cruise ships, and tankers. Its dual-fuel capabilities align with Singapore’s efforts to promote LNG as a marine fuel and will contribute to meeting the growing demand for cleaner, more efficient bunkering services in one of the world’s busiest ports,” Minerva said.
Minerva Bunkering was established by Mercuria Energy Group in Singapore in March 2019 and immediately assumed the operations and personnel of Minerva Bunkers and of the reorganized Aegean Marine Petroleum Network.
The company currently operates from hubs in Geneva, Athens, New York, Singapore, Antwerp and Las Palmas.
In 2023, Minerva Bunkering performed its first bunker delivery at King Abdullah Port and expanded its Saudi Arabia Red Sea operations to serve vessels calling the port.
